Made with a love for Things
What began as sharing a simple spreadsheet with friends evolved into a pursuit to make owning Things easier.
Currents was founded in December 2022, by brothers Cole and Craig Smith with a goal of removing the friction and overhead from owning Things. After sharing their original spreadsheet for managing personal belongings and facilitating upgrades with dozens of friends and family, they set out to make it accessible to more people. By evolving it into a web app and subsequent iOS app in Test Flight.
Officially launching in the App Store in March 2023, it supported 312 electronics with simple insights. Today, it supports over 216,000 Things across multiple categories and provides info that is otherwise difficult to keep track of.
Beyond providing information that has been otherwise difficult to keep track of for Things, the Currents team is focused on improving all the ways you interact with your Things digitally. Removing as much search cost and overhead from the experience as possible. From finding compatible repair guides and parts, to ensuring you have the best insurance coverage and financing for your Things.
